onderhond.com turns 1

It's been that long already. Even though blogging is pretty hard work, time flies and onderhond.com has been going strong for a solid 52 weeks now. A fair few things were added to the site or were changed altogether, but I always made sure to keep it as recognizable as possible. I've passed the initial pitfalls, now it's key to keep it running all slick and smooth.

1 candle burning for the 1 year blog jubilee

the past

Anniversaries are usually seen as an opportunity to look back at what happened, but with Christmas coming up I'll leave the xxx-lists and soggy memories for later times. Looking at the future is a way more fun thing to do.

the future

Blogging takes time, blogging on a self-designed blog (talking about front-end design here) takes even more time. The code I wrote a year ago feels rather old now, the css feels pretty clunky. So I started to write everything from scratch some time ago. In a couple of months time there will be a whole new blog, though the most important changes will be more or less under the hood.

A few design tweaks were made for the new release. Nothing major, I prefer staying as close to my current identity as possible, but some fine-tuning is always welcome. Don't expect to be overwhelmed, it's mostly details and little fiddly things.

Most interestingly is an image gallery I'm planning to add. No Flickr import (crap), but a simple and neat photo gallery for my own private use. Kinda miss it when I'm making those vacation posts.

the future

Apart from that, year 2 will promise the same old, same old. Which I hope is interesting enough to keep people coming around. I'll keep focusing on writing fully developed articles rather than quick scrabbles, putting me in the "blogging is not dead yet" camp I suppose.

Hope the second year will prove as much fun as the first. Thanks for reading and keep coming back!
