efteling spring 2009/sun, fun and fairytales

The 1st of May is a day off in Belgium, but not so in The Netherlands. Bottom line: there is almost nothing to do over here and plenty going on over there. With a sunny weather forecast and a days worth of free time we decided that a little trip to the Efteling would make a fine day out. And we decided well.

The weather forecast turned out to be pretty spot on, it just was a little crowdier than we'd expected. We forgot that the 30th of April is a Dutch holiday and many people had made it into one long weekend. A little traffic jam and longer waiting lines were the unfortunate result. Next time it wouldn't hurt to do some tighter planning to avoid the big crowds, but with the good weather we had a pretty fine day anyways. It's a nice park and even though the rides aren't as elaborate or thrilling, they've done a pretty good job with the whole setup.
