santorini various
zaventem (image 1 of 15)
Zaventem airport. For some reason we always have a gate in the back.
internet cafe in thira (image 2 of 15)
If there is a God, this is him teasing me. Vacation is me fleeing from the internet. Santorini was filled with internet cafes.
call me (image 3 of 15)
Even though Santorini is a "modern" island (everything was rebuilt in the '70s) it's still full of these ugly things.
grapes (image 4 of 15)
Rare view of hanging grapes. There are lots of grape fields and wineries on Santorini but they use a different way of growing them. They are on the ground tied in a circle with the grapes growing inside, protecting them from winds, sand and the draught.
donkey transport (image 5 of 15)
Don't want to climb the stairs from the harbours to the city, pick a donkey. Poor animals run up and down those stairs the whole day.
lonely (image 6 of 15)
A very lonely plant on the volcano. The only bit of green we saw on there, quite nicely protected from animals and tourists though.
camouflage (image 7 of 15)
Try to spot the little bugger. They are quick and know how to hide.
jeep trip (image 8 of 15)
Taken while driving to a little hidden beach. A cute 1km long trip on a small road between the pumice rocks.
ferry boats (image 9 of 15)
Traffic between the islands is done by ferries. Awesome boats who reach some pretty nice speeds.
sailing without sails (image 10 of 15)
Not all boats are built for speed. This one is for luxury travel, though you hardly see these boats with raised sails.
hah! (image 11 of 15)
The single one of a bunch of 5 pictures that came out reasonably well.
passing ship (image 12 of 15)
A similar ship to ours passing us on the way to the harbour. With the sun gone its best to get to land as quickly as possible.
linnset (image 13 of 15)
How could I not take this picture?
local wine (image 14 of 15)
The local wine was good. Very good. It was even better when we got two carafes for free one night. The other glass is vin santo. Local drink but usually served in smaller quantities. Guess they must've liked us over there.
vin santo (image 15 of 15)
Vin santo is actually a kind of dessert wine. A fine piece of liquor to close off your meal.

Photo 14 : I liked them too over there :D
