Switchblade Romance

One of the films that kickstarted the French horror wave and rightfully so. Alexandre Aja shows what he's made off and launches a simple but extremely raunchy and effective horror flick. Blood flows, heads are severed and limbs fly with hardly an intro or outro to speak of. Horror as it should be.

Documentary that details the history of He-Man. Never been a fan of this action figure-based franchise, this couldn't convince I'm missing out on anything. Some interesting bits on the restrictions they faced when creating the show, but it's little more than a bunch of people being very excited over a horrible franchise.

I'm not a big classics fan to begin with, but when they're slow meditations on (specific) religion(s) it gets really tough for me. The Word is incredibly slow, the camera is static, the acting questionable and the philisophical meanderings really didn't do anything for me. Like Bergman and Tarkovsky, not my cup of tea.

One of the big Bruce Lee classics. Never been a big Bruce Lee fan though, compared to the Shaw Bros films his choreographies are quite weak and the films he appeared in too cheap for my taste. I get how his skills and appearence propelled him to become the legend he is today, but his films just aren't any good.

Americans saving lives in foreign cities while at the same time putting their own government in a bad light. It's almost a genre in its own right. Brad Anderson does well with the material, then again he always does well. Beirut isn't the most original or creative of films, but it's well-made and it's fun while it lasts.
