Ouch. I wasn't expecting the world from this film. With a budget like that, it was bound to be full of concessions to appeal to the largest audience possible. Still, I wasn't expecting it to be this bad. It felt like a film aimed at 12-year-olds, while I'm quite sure that wasn't the intention of the directors (nor the target group of the source material).
The budget is there, so yeah, the robots look good and the world-building is proper. No cutting any corners here. The soundtrack and score are absolutely atrocious, the performances are weak, the comedy is bland, and the story is sentimental in all the wrong ways and places. What a waste of money.
