Not Teo's best, but somehow I find it difficult to dislike his films. The flaws are obvious enough here: the performances are horrid (though Ling is somewhat decent), the CG is an eyesore, and the plot isn't as well-developed as it should be. The worst thing is that the budget wasn't all that small, so it wasn't just a matter of resources.

But Teo's love for cyberpunk and highly aesthetic/edgy things is what kept me watching. There's definitely some Mamoru Oshii in there, it's just that the execution is lacking. The Gene Generation is for niche fans only, and it's not a film I'll defend with my life, but I could see the potential (and I recognized the lack of comparable films), so I still enjoyed myself.
