The Head Hunter poster

Plot: A lonely hunter/killer for hire gets his assignments from a nearby castle. He has a young daughter he needs to protect, but the world they live in is harsh and unrelenting, and on one of his more dangerous quests, he is outsmarted by his prey, resulting in the death of his daughter. The hunter vows to avenge her, and after a while, he gets another chance to hunt the creature that killed his kin. And that's all there is to it. A simple setup, but the devil's in the details (which I'm not going to spoil here).

A gritty and moody horror film that makes perfect use of its shoestring budget. The fantasy setting makes for an interesting diversion, the lack of exposition is refreshing and the execution is excellent. Think Sauna, but a little gorier, dirtier and meaner. One more example that you don't need piles of catch to make a good film.
