Plot: Cheung returns to the island he visited as a young man. He takes 6 of his students with him. When they arrive, they set up camp, but they quickly discover they're not the only ones on the island. There's a family who lives there, and the tension quickly rises between the two groups. Especially when one of the boys kidnaps one of Cheung's students, hoping to make her his bride.

When Hong Kong does something similar to The Wicker Man. The result isn't all that similar, as Hong Kong horror is rather loud and energetic, but the premise and structure of both films do feel alike. Just don't expect to see the darker and more serious vibes, this is very much an 80s Hong Kong horror film.

The performances are iffy, and the first half's a bit slow. But once the two groups are at odds with each other, the pacing picks up, and there are some entertaining moments. I wouldn't call this a genuine classic, it's not distinctive enough for that, but it's good fun if you know what you're getting into.
