It's nice seeing a slightly more genre-oriented film from Greece, though there's still an unmistakable arthouse vibe underneath. Istoria 52 is a bit of a mindfuck, about a man whose personal reality doesn't quite match with the things happening around him. The type of film that was quite popular back then.
The style is gritty, but not quite as maximalist as I would've preferred. The score's just a tiny bit underwhelming, too. The performances are solid though, the pacing is proper, and the film doesn't overstay its welcome. It's a fun and entertaining film, but too middle-of-the-road to stand out from its peers.
