The latest in the John Wick series is little more than a repeat of the earlier films, warts and all. It's a no-brainer recommendation for fans of the earlier installments, if not there's really no reason to prioritize this film. It's not a terrible action flick, but the 170-minute runtime does betray its misplaced sense of grandeur.

Wick is still on the run from The High Table, but he has thought of a plan that might turn the tables in his favor. For that, he needs the help of some old friends, who'll have to put their lives on the line if they want to join his fight. Wick goes up against his most powerful enemy so far.

The cinematography is pretty polished and Wick 4 has a solid cast, but it still fails where it matters the most. The action feels stiff and is poorly directed, a real setback for a film like this. The soundtrack is pretty bland too, as is the plot. They need a talented action choreographer and a gutsy editor if they ever want to redeem this series.
