A fun and quirky film by Shun Nakahara. I haven't seen much from him, but like Shinji Somai, he appears to be a director who deserves a deep dive. With an excellent cast, some unexpected narrative twists, and a polished presentation, Nakahara kept me glued to the screen for the entire runtime.

80s and 90s Japanese cinema is a little undervalued, but that makes it all the more fun to discover some of these hidden gems. The film doesn't quite reach the highs of the more younger and more ambitious directors who were making a name for themselves, but if you like Japanese cinema and you appreciate their unique sense of style, this is an easy recommend.
