Teen flick + popular music usually equals big hit. Saturday Night Fever captures the late 70s disco era, following a bunch of school kids hanging around and doing stupid stuff. It's probably a fun flick if you like disco music and/or have a thing for the 70s. I have neither, making this a slog to sit through.

Tony is an uneducated guy from Brooklyn, who lives for going to the disco. He's a great dancer, but he has no real aspirations. That changes when he meets Stephanie. She's a great dancer too and Tony wants to better himself by dancing with her. She's in a different league than Tony, but his perseverance does intrigue her.

There's a quite a bit of dancing and there's a lot of 70s disco. That's it really. Travolta is his usual self, the plot is extremely thin, and the characters here are all broad and recognizable stereotypes. At two hours long, not a lot is happening, so if you don't care for disco music, do yourself a favor and skip this one.
