A beautifully shot war drama with light fantastical touches. I don't think everything works equally well, but the one scene at the end is very powerful and probably the reason why I rated this film slightly higher the first time I watched it. It's still strong the second time watching, but it's not quite a personal favorite anymore.
The performances are on point, the cinematography is polished, and the similarities/differences between the two settings are striking. The film starts off a little slow, but the pacing and structure in the second half are better. Add to that a powerful finale, and you have a quality film.
