Originally a 2-part OAV, based on a popular manga and recut as a movie. An intruiging setting, some attractive action scenes and interesting character designs make for a great little scifi film. It lacks a little depth and the animation isn't film-worthy, but with a 50-minute running time it's a tasty snack.

The big competitor of Street Fighter back in the day, at least in Japan. Capcom had Ryu and Ken, SNK had Terry and Andy. I've always been more of a King of Fighters fan than a Fatal Fury adept, but these are characters I hold quite dear to my heart regardless. It's a little disappointing to see this short anime OAV doesn't do the franchise justice.

The plot is extremely simple, but that's not too surprising. Terry and Andy's father is murdered by Geese, his biggest competitor. They want revenge, but their mentor understands they're not quite ready yet to take him on. He sends them on a decade-long journey to hone their skills. Ten years later they'll meet up again to decide who will take on Geese.

The animation is pretty basic and the art style is a little limited. The plot too is very standard, but it's nice to see some familiar faces pop up. It's a typical fans-only type of production though, an OAV made to cash in on the popularity of the games. If you're okay with that it's not the worst of the bunch, just don't expect anything out of the ordinary.
