A solid horror film, though not the most surprising one. It's one of those films that wants you to question the lead's sense of reality. It's nice when it works, but I've seen one too many films doing the exact same thing, so I never really doubted the outcome of the film. Your mileage may differ. Laura grew up in a cult but escaped from their clutches. Eight years later, so has a son which she raises by herself. One day several people break into his room, after which the boy gets mysterious rashes while suffering from increasingly severe fits. The only thing that makes him better is human blood. The performances are nice, the styling is proper, the balance between gore and mystery is appropriate and the film has some memorable moments. It's just that the mystery itself doesn't really work, and the police scenes feel a bit superfluous. Definitely not a bad film, but it's not entirely successful either.Read all
