It's not every day you get a chance to see a Ugandan thriller, so when Netflix added The Girl in the Yellow Jumper, I went for it. The film has a rather basic but fun setup, with a bunch of people in a car who are clearly hiding something from each other. It's up to the audience to figure out what the hell is going on. When a cop finds a guy in the middle of a remote highway, he is hesitant to let him into his car. There's a serial killer on the loose, and the guy looks pretty injured. He caves though and takes the man with him. Slowly he reveals his story, being kidnapped by two girls who held him hostage. Certain thing don't add up, and the old man in the back is also pretty suspicious. This isn't a very original film, nor are the twists at the end very inventive. But the execution really isn't all that bad. Some funny animations, solid dialogues, appropriate pacing with well-timed reveals and proper cinematography make this a pleasant and amusing genre film.
