I was blissfully unaware of the topic of this documentary when I started it. It's the only way I could've ever started it, because I'm rarely, if ever, interested in these types of ego docs. This is a documentary about the maker and the zeitgeist of the time and place it was made. And that's just not very interesting to me. The characters are irritating, I don't care about the 80s and the US, the presentation is crummy, and 157 minutes is excessively long. I'm sure there's a genuine audience for these types of films, but I'm clearly not a part of it. I've seen a few of these films now and I disliked every single one of them. Read all
