A cute drama about a young girl who doesn't fit societal norms but charms her way into people's hearts regardless. Non is perfectly cast for the part, as she has a very similar vibe. The film is cute and endearing, but maybe a bit too long and just a little too safe to make a bigger impression. I think the presentation could've used a little extra polish, and the pacing had some hiccups during the middle part. Vegans should also take note that the love for fish here doesn't necessarily translate into animal-friendly behavior, I suppose. But if you want to watch a pleasant film about an outcast finding her place in society, you can't go wrong with this film.Read all

A light-hearted, quirky, but also somewhat tepid and expected look into the life and habitat of a peculiar artist. The tone of the film is comfortable, the characters are enjoyable and the drama is pleasant, but overall the film feels a bit aimless and doesn't make a big impression. Good, but not great.

A pleasant drama, but a bit too old-fashioned and predictable to make a lasting impact. The setup is cute and the women are rather funny, each in their own way, but I think you need to be a bit older to be full on board with their problems and concerns to get the most out of this film. The performances are pleasant and the conversations between the women are quirky enough. The presentation is a tad disappointing though and the pacing is quite slow for a film that doesn't have many surprises, nor puts a lot of focus on the visceral experience. Decent entertainment, but not too memorable.Read all

A sweet but simple romantic drama. The Yonosuke character isn't quite as endearing as Okita hoped he'd be, the drama is a little too predictable and the direction is decent but somewhat inconspicuous. It's not a bad film, but it can't warrant its excessive running time as it is simply not memorable enough.
