Another rather random Black Mirror entry. I don't get why this film is set in '79 (apart from wanting to feature a Boney M character), I don't see the big appeal of the story, nor did I think the horror elements were expertly executed. This 6th season felt like a lesser version of Cabinet of Rarities. An Indian shoe salesman is living a rather dull life until one day she finds a mysterious item in the basement of the shoe store. It turns her life around, as it summons a demon, who tells her that she must kill three people in just as many days. This is the only way she can avert the apocalypse. The demon appears as her heartthrob, the rest of the film tries to balance comedy and horror, but neither element gets much room to shine. Maybe the series would do good to seek out more capable directors, or at least give them more say in what to do with the shorts, because something isn't adding up here. It's a pretty meek film, but at least it was shortish.Read all
