An extremely pleasant surprise. I didn't expect too much going into this one, Czech films are usually a bit grim and grimy, but Daisies is 70 minutes of pure experimental joy. It's definitely an oddity, as it doesn't rely on a strict narrative or obvious character development to keep people invested, but that just makes it more fun. The film follows two young girls who consider the world to be a rotten place. They imagine the best way to fit in is to misbehave, so they go out and make a big spectacle of themselves. The film is little more than a sequence of scenes where the two get increasingly crazier and more obnoxious. The two leads are charming, the cinematography is very playful, colorful and experimental and the atmosphere is light and liberating, even though the two constantly behave like irritating brats. Because the film lacks a clear narrative it might be a little demanding for some, but if you're looking for something crazy and fun, this is a pretty solid bet.Read all
