Caught Stealing poster

Plot: When Hank's neighbor has to leave for London, he asks Hank to take care of his cat while he's gone. It's a simple task, but it'll change his life. Not much later too seedy characters are knocking on his neighbor's door, and they're looking for something. Hank tries to intervene, but this lands him in the nearest hospital.

A simple crime comedy, made a lot better by a capable director. It seems like an odd project for Aronofsky, but some might remember that he tried very hard to make a superhero movie back in the day. This felt similar. It's not quite part of Aronofsky's core oeuvre, more like something he just wanted to get out of his system.

The performances are solid, the cinematography is a big step up from the norm, and there's a pleasant mix of crime and comedy that keeps the pacing smooth. Not sure why this film was set in 1998, other than that, I don't have any real remarks. Caught Stealing can't compete with his better films, but it sure was entertaining.
